James Corboy

Finance Executive ret.

Mr., Corboy was CFO of a Fortune 500 company when we first met. He was very much sought after by several high-level institutions, and university chancellors during a time when I was trying to establish a CEO group for one - not his alma mater. Not really great idea (of mine)! However, I didn't give up, and Mr. Corboy was wonderfully enjoying my efforts (I know that, now), but obliged and not only became part of the group, but its board! Not one to hide from adversity, Corboy was well respected by his colleagues on the board and within the organization itself.

There hasn't been one idea I have 'run' past Jim that he hasn't provide sound ideas and advice, including a natural history museum. In fact, had it taken his advice, it wouldn't be near collapse now.

No one will ever convince me that anyone other that Jim knows the best places to dine in the world, and thoroughly enjoy each one of them on an almost sensual level. That is his zest for life, and it extends to his wife, Barbara, as well.

Approaching him about the PROJECT! he was very interested, and knowing my approach to organizational design he knew strategic planning wouldn't be a "folder in the file cabinet" but an extensive working document. When it came to writing the budget for the PROJECT!'s premier year, it couldn't have been accomplished as well with Jim. in fact, long distance between the mountains of Colorado, and cities of Texas, he caught every comma, period, and lack of solid staffing possible. Every time I thought the document was ready for a vote, Mr. Corboy let me know where his thoughts were - and the part of him I so enjoy is that when it comes to business, he is ALL business!
