Dr. Anderson is featured in Bill Moyers book "Healing." That seems insignificant on this page, however, unless Mr. Moyers words about Dr. Anderson has been read, one wouldn't have the vaguest idea of the fact that he is truly a great physician. An excellent scientist, and a compassionate, caring person, Dr. Anderson, of proud Kiowa heritage, encourages those who go to Parkland Memorial Hospital (Dallas) to utilize whomever and whatever they believe will help them in their recoveries. From personal experience, I can say that in spite of his demanding schedule, somehow he finds times to comfort those who need him - his family, dearest friends, beloved colleagues (are colleagues feel his love), and the next person he meets, anywhere.

What do I think are his greatest concerns? First his time for his faith, and his family. Secondly, the impact violence is having on our society. And thirdly, the lack of care for the indigent, and those who have "fallen through the cracks" and having to deal with a county board where many of them (I'm from Dallas so I can say this) could care less. Why people elect commissioners who are inhumane is beyond me when they may need that humane care one day! Especially from the hospital that has been rated #1 in the nation under Dr. Anderson's guidance for several years. To Dr. Anderson, there is no color, no religion, no culture - only humanity, all of love and care. I shall never forget the first time he reminded me that there were "no coincidences. . . !"

Dr. Anderson is our "point person" for the American Indian to help us serve all cultures, and for our panel on Spirituality, Ethnicity, Culture, and Ethics in Care.
